What Is Your Body Crying Out For?

Diets are a funny thing.

First off, I hate the name of them.  When does anything with the word “die” in it mean a good thing?

Second, they just don’t work.  Okay, maybe they work for a little bit, maybe a few weeks, a month or even a few months.

But long term, they just don’t cut it.

I was thinking a little bit today.  Why didn’t I start with the basics?

Meaning, why didn’t I ask you FIRST what your thoughts are on your perfect “diet”?

Then after that, I could help you entertain more options.

So let’s take a step back today.

Please take some time and answer these questions for yourself.

1. What do you believe your perfect diet consists of? Are you a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan?  Does fish have any place in your day to day eating?  How do you incorporate fruits or vegetables?

2. How are you with carbohydrates? Do you like eating them?  Do you LOVE eating them?  Which ones are your favorites, meaning you just can’t live without them?

3. How long does it take for you to get hungry after a meal? Which meal satisfies you the most and what does that typically look like?

4. How are you with drinks? Do you drink water, coffee, tea, soda?  Are you often thirsty or not?

5. What kind of cravings, if any, do you typically have? When do you get them?  How do you get rid of them?

6. Do you enjoy having fat in your diet? What kind, if any, do you typically have?  Do you want more or less and what would that mean for you?

7. How would you describe your digestion? Are you happy with it’s speed, it’s smoothness, it’s consistency?  What would you like to see change with it?

8. Do you suffer from any food related issues? Bloatedness?  Stomach discomfort?  IBS?  Chron’s?  Persistent diarrhea or constipation?  Itchy or dry skin?  Brittle hair or nails?  Lack of sleep, energy or both?

9. What are the worst foods for you? What foods make you feel horrible regardless of how “good” or “bad” they are for you?

10. Is there anything you want to change from what you’re currently doing in terms of the food you’re eating that you’re not doing now?

Take all of the answers from above and start putting them together like a puzzle.

Are there any like pieces?

Are there any gaps between what you believe your perfect diet is and what you’re currently doing?

What would need to happen, if anything, for you to get closer to your ideal?

I honestly believe that if you listen to all of your body’s cues, it will tell you EXACTLY what it needs, what it wants and what it needs to stay away from.

So, what is your body telling you?
